Payroll.

Payroll explained in plain English: payday super, wages, awards, STP and staying compliant as an employer.

What we write about here

Payroll goes wrong in predictable places: the 1 July rate change, a classification that was never revisited, super paid on the wrong base. The articles here work through those, because they are the ones that turn into back-pay conversations.

Payroll is unusual among compliance obligations in that errors compound silently. A wrong rate is not one wrong number - it is every pay run, plus super calculated on it, until somebody checks. Which is why most of what we write here is about catching things early rather than fixing them well.

Employment law and award interpretation belong with an HR specialist or an employment lawyer, and we point at one rather than guess. What we cover is what lands in the pay run.
