The results spoke early. A growing list of clients whose businesses we helped get back on track caught Xero's attention: Gold Partner first, then Xero's QLD Bookkeeping Partner of the Year in 2016, and Platinum Partner since. What we're most proud of sits outside the trophy cabinet - the owners who became savvy business people once the bookkeeping stopped being theirs to carry.

An accountant by training and a business strategist by inclination. James started LINK Books in 2012 and built the wider LINK group around it, and the thread through all of it has not changed: a small business runs better when its owner can actually read their own numbers.
He is as interested in how a business is run as in what it reports. That is why the firm was built culture first - train people properly, hand them real responsibility, then trust them with it. He measures the culture of the firm the way he measures its financial performance, on the view that the first one produces the second.

Emma runs the firm day to day and thinks in processes. A problem that shows up once is an incident. A problem that shows up twice means the process behind it gets rebuilt, for every client at the same time rather than one file at a time.
Most of what makes a LINK Books file predictable exists because Emma standardised it - the reconciliation rhythm, how a handover runs, what lands in your inbox at the end of each month. She is also the one who insists a client understands their numbers rather than simply receives them.
The same people, year after year.
Bookkeeping is a relationship business, and relationships do not survive a revolving door. The reason a LINK Books client can ring and get someone who already knows their file is that the person who knows it is still here.
We have been doing this since 2012. In that time the team has grown from one person to a full bookkeeping practice sitting inside a chartered group, and some of the clients who joined in the early days are still with us. That is the number worth watching in a firm like this. Anyone can win a client. Keeping one for a decade means the work held up through every hire, every software change and every ATO deadline in between.
We deliberately do not specialise into a single industry. The team keeps books for trades, NDIS providers, venues, gyms, medical practices, online sellers, real estate agencies and school P&Cs, and the range is the point - a problem that turns up in a cafe this month has usually been solved in a workshop already.
We also measure how the team is going, not only how the clients are, and we have done it every fortnight since 2018 through Officevibe. Engagement across the LINK group hit a record 8.9 out of 10 in 2025, on an eNPS of 67 - a score above 30 is considered strong. We publish those numbers because a bookkeeper who is well trained, properly supported and intends to stay is the entire product.
